Background Check for Pornstars? Tod Weighs In

Thoughtful Response to Serious Issue

Yesterday I wrote a post about background checks for pornstars and asked for feedback. My good friend Tod Hunter (Tod-Hunter.net) weighed in with his thoughts. As one would expect, Tod offers some interesting thoughts.

Tod Writes:

I think background checks would be a good idea, but I wonder how they should
be used. If they were provided voluntarily like AIM tests, then people could
choose who to work with.
Like generals who are always fighting the last war, I wonder if doing this
will close a loophole that isn’t a problem. In the entire history of porn
there haven’t been enough incidents to call this an imminent danger,
especially considering this happened nowhere near a shoot. I think the
bigger problem here was what looks (in retrospect) like an unprofessional
decision to let the guy live in the office.
But I’m certainly not opposed for people who want to participate. Performers
are incredibly vulnerable. This will help their peace of mind.

Excellent points. What do you guys think? Should potential porn performers/employees go through background checks? If so, how should they be used? Where do we draw the line as to which crimes are acceptable and which ones get you blackballed? Drop me a line with your thoughts.
