Reader Mailbag, More on Hate Speech & Stupid Political Link Machines
Lots of stuff to get to today. I’ll try to be brief and make sure that there are plenty of eye candy breaks along the way.
First of all I wanted to address a few emails that came my way. As some of you remember, this site went dark on 9-11-01 in honor of those who died. Some of you wondered why I didn’t do or run any tribute stories/links yesterday. Believe me, I wasn’t trying to slight anyone. I did my 9/11 remembrance off-line with my family. I didn’t feel it needed to be here. There was enough on the web yesterday (good and fucking horribly bad) for everyone. Hopefully you all understand.
I’ve been waiting to see new stories on gas prices for about three weeks now. Before I went on vacation I commented to Mrs. Rog that local prices had fallen 50 cents in about two months. I wonder aloud then why we hadn’t seen news stories on this scene local news stations rush out to cover 10 cent increases on a regular basis. I saw a little piece on a financial report on vacation, but I’m still waiting to see it really hit the MSM. (Fox News has run a few stories on it I hear.) Gas here in SoCal has dropped below 2.90 and for some reason that’s not news? Why? Because it’s good news? I don’t know, but I’m sure happy to see it on the way down.
It’s getting to be that time of year again. AVN has opened things up for pre-noms. That means several things. First of all it means that a lot of companies will be unleashing some really good stuff, especially the feature companies. It was at this time last year that Digital Playground was ramping up for Pirates. Recently Private has hit us with a couple of great features. Both Sex City and the newly released sequel should be up for consideration. They also just released one of my favorite features of 2006, Porn Wars. Look for more really good stuff to hit the shelves in the next six weeks or so.
In addition to the AVN stuff, we also have to start thinking about the Rog Reviews awards. Registration for the Fan Faves will be open soon so start thinking about your list of nominees. Ideally all of them come from readers so think about who you think should be nominated for Best Male, Best Female, Best Newbie, Best Director, Best Company and of course, Most Wanted Celebrity. Send them on in.
Eye Candy Break #1: What would live be without really hot chicks?
Path to 9/11 #1: I’m probably going to cut my comments on this short because I’m so freaking disgusted. Not with the movie ABC ran, but with the infantile reaction to it and the shameless poli-cheerleading from someone I respect. When Tod (www.tod-hunter.net) first started running the auto-generated political hit headlines last week I was puzzled. After all, these angry stories about a movie no on had seen were calling for censorship. Isn’t censorship something we are supposed to oppose? As all of you know I have never been a “Blame Clinton” guy for what happened on 9/11. I have issues with some of the former President’s policies, but have firmly maintained that 9/11 is NOT about blame. There were mistakes made during his administration that helped 9/11 to happen just as there were mistakes during the Bush time that helped 9/11 to happen. (Yes, I repeated myself on purpose, just to make sure everyone got it.) So I don’t buy into the Blame Clinton crowd or the Blame Bush crowd. More on this issue later, but let’s just say that I’m in the Blame the Fucking Terrorists camp and that I find headline generators that link to hate sites calling for censorship to be offensive, hackish and truly, truly sad.
Remember Paris Hilton? How can we forget her right? (In case you have forgotten, she’s the bimbo in 1 Night in Paris) She recently joined the list of celebrities to get busted for DUI. What are these people thinking? I said it when Kennedy got popped. I said it when Mel Gibson got nailed and I’ll say it again. Why the fuck can’t you rich morons just hire someone to drive you? If you’re going to go out and drink or take sleeping pills or whatever, then let someone else take the wheel. I’m just shocked that Paris knew how to be in a car with her fucking head visible. Side note, the Paris episode in South Park Season 8 (Pictured) is one of the funniest fucking things I have EVER seen.

Eye Candy #2: When all else fails you can try Young Throats.

Rog,

I just read your review of Nikki Charm Returns. I agree with you, sad
that it’s not really a return. In the review you mention a movie a
couple of years ago where Nikki makes her anal debut. I’ve waited 2
decades to see that! Can you tell me what that movie is? I’ve got to get
it.
BTW, how do you get such a sweet gig? (everybody probably asks you that)
Thanks,
Bill

Rog Replies: Thanks for writing. I was disappointed that Nikki Charm Returns. didn’t have anything new, but it was a nice comp for Nicki fans. The movie you are asking about was Ten Little Angels. It isn’t a great scene, but it features little Nicki taking it up the butt. That’s worth a look for sure. As for how I got this gig, yeah a lot of people ask, but I don’t mind. It’s probably time to update the FAQ section with the full story, but I’ll bottom line it. I was (and still am) a porn fan. I used to manage video stores so I started going to the adult shows during CES every year. When I got on the internet I found some newsgroups that had conversations about porn and even a few reviews. I decided to try a few from my own collection and got great feedback right away. The rest, as they is history. 11 years later I have reviewed over 4000 adult movies and it has become a full time job. Good thing I still love it or I would have quit long ago.
Path to 9/11 #2: Just a little point before I go. This has been bugging me since the poli-cheer sites started in on this movie. Aren’t they using ALL the same arguments people use when trying to censor Michael Moore or Oliver Stone? Now I’m not a Moore fan at all, but he has a right to make whatever movie he wants. He even has the right to twist the truth as we know he often does. This movie doesn’t even say it’s a documentary so perhaps the Moore comparison is off base. Stone is probably better. I do happen to be a huge Oliver Stone fan. (I know he’s a total kook, but his movies are generally fantastic.) When Ollie makes a movie about JFK or Nixon people get all bent out of shape just like they are now. The funny thing this time is that the people who usually say “it’s a work of fiction, get over it” are now the ones with their collective panties in a bunch. When Tod ran all those fake “headline” stories they were all angry the movie points out things that actually happened. Did they happen word for word the way they are depicted in the movie? None of us knows. The point is that some of the people who complain about a loss of freedom are now happy to call for censorship of something they haven’t seen just because some well paid political hack working for a hate/hit site tells them so. I can’t help but shake my head at the fucking hypocrites crying over this stuff and also can’t avoid being disappointed in the smart people I know swallowing all this partisan bullshit withtout an ounce of thought, common sense or consistency.
Final Eye Candy for the Day: How about some more White Teens and Black Cock action?
