Fantasy Football: Week 1 Recap

With week one of the NFL season in the books, it’s time for a quick look at the good, bad and ugly in the three RogReviews.com Fantasy Football leagues. There is a fourth league drafting Friday night if anyone wants in at the last minute. Hopefully these updates will be fun and maybe I can even get one of the other owners to write one once in a while. (Hint, Hint.)

League 1: AKA 2008 RogReviews.com League. The fourth year of this league kicked off with last year’s champ Terry Rowland leading his “Boys Are Back” team against Dan K’s “Spartacus Bloodbath.” It was indeed a bloody day for the defending champs who fell 127-106 in the lowest scoring match up of the week. Mark Riley’s “Obnoxious A Holes” rode Tom Brady’s league high 42 points to pile up a 65 point win. Overall top score went to Rog’s “Asa Akira is Pure Perfection” team with 171 points including 26 points from the Ravens defense. Bono 1 took home the trophy for closest win of the week thanks to a 17 point victory over Willie D in the year’s first grudge match. Week two features just one match up of unbeatens as Bloodbath takes on the A Holes to see who stays perfect and who drops off.

League 2: AKA RogReviews.com League 1 (Confusing names man.) Last year’s champs, “Lexi’s Bell Ringers” let by John Abernathy went down to defeat to new owner Jeff Gulati’s Boston Haze squat 84-70. Craig Harris used Tom Brady’s 39 points to crush Rog’s Potatoes in a lopsided 151-86 match up. Saul’s Balling Club eeked out a 4 point win for the tightest game of the week. This week features one unbeaten matchup as Harris takes on Digital Playground’s Cody Bangs to stay undefeated.

League 3: AKA Rog Review Naughty & Nice This is the Yahoo league. I liked it a lot last year, but this year we lost a ton of owners and are playing with just six teams. The numbers are going to be high, but the rosters are cool and I want to build on this league for next year. Last year’s top two teams met as Rog’s Hall of Famers took down the Super Freaks. The highest scoring game of the week featured Mama Redu taking down Bono’s Jynx Maze team 346 to 315. Bono’s team would have defeated anyone else in the league in week one, but he drew a tough matchup. This week Mama Redu takes on Boston Haze in a battle of the unbeatens.
