For more than 45 years, Susan Marilyn Block, Ph.D., better known as “Dr. Suzy,”
has worked as a sexologist, sex therapist, author, and cultural commentator. A
graduate of Yale University, she has hosted The Dr. Susan Block Show and
related programs while earning international recognition through HBO specials
that focused on discussions involving sexuality, relationships, pleasure,
awareness, and human connection.

Dr. Suzy established the Susan Block Institute in 1991 as an organization
dedicated to helping people improve communication, relationships, sexuality,
peacemaking, and personal freedom through counseling services and
educational programs.
The Institute’s private practice offers counseling and sex therapy to individuals
and couples seeking assistance with intimacy, relationship issues, pleasure, and
personal growth.
The organization has also developed programming for internet, radio, and
television audiences. Its productions include The Dr. Susan Block Show, Radio
Sex TV with Dr. Susan Block on HBO, FDR Radio, Bedside Chats, Sex Calls,
Real Calls, Travels with Max, and Dr. Suzy’s Speakeasy. These projects were
co-produced alongside Dr. Block’s late husband, Maximillian Lobkowicz.
In addition to its media work, the Institute has published books including The
Bonobo Way: The Evolution of Peace through Pleasure, The 10 Commandments
of Pleasure: Erotic Keys to a Healthy, Sexual Life, and Advertising for Love: How
to Play the Personals. Dr. Block has delivered lectures and participated in panel
discussions at academic institutions, conferences, and cultural events around the
world. The Institute has also produced magazines, articles, interviews, videos,
audio recordings, photography, music, art, and digital media addressing a wide
range of social and cultural issues.
