Xcitement Magazine Celebrates 10 Years

Everyone reading this has heard of and probably read Playboy magazine. Most have likewise heard of Hustler, Penthouse and probably even Perfect Ten. A good number of you have picked up a copy of AVN (Adult Video News), but many of you may be missing out on the fresh perspective provided by Xcitement Magazine. Don’t feel too bad if you haven’t heard of them. This south Florida based mag has been around for a decade, but is just now really picking up steam nationally. Even as other magazines fold or retool to keep readership, Xcitement celebrates its tenth anniversary with a readership that has topped the one-hundred thousand mark. In an age of countless web sites catering to every niche known to man, it’s not easy for a magazine to keep up. Reaching a ten year milestone is a huge achievement and the anniversary issue will kick off a year long celebration sponsored by the magazine.

Formed in March of 1993, Xcitement Magazine started as a 28 page tabloid-sized newspaper. Publisher Bob Newman was looking for a unique publishing venture and created the first regional magazine to focus on adult entertainment. The local flavor and special attention to strip clubs made it different and more fan-friendly than many of the larger publications. While AVN is an industry magazine read by people in the porn business, Xcitement is for the fans. Editor Cindy Luftos says “We are for the guy who goes to the strip clubs or the swingers clubs. We are also really big with the dancers. They look for their pictures and see where their friends are working.” Over the years, the magazine has grown in scope, readership and bulk. The 120th issue has ballooned to a 180 page magazine, full-color, glossy that offers a number of adult industry oriented stories. Highlighted in the milestone issue is a ten page interview and photo spread with the adult industry’s biggest star, Jenna Jameson. Loftus did the interview with the blonde superstar who gives readers a very candid look at her most recent project, “My Plaything: Jenna Jameson 2.” Jenna also talks about her connection to mainstream TV, movies and the rock stars she parties with. She also revealed her true feelings for Howard Stern and told Cindi about her dream celebrity three-way/ (With Matthew McConaughey & Edward Norton.)

While branching out to cover the world of adult films, Xcitement still focuses largely on the Florida strip club scene. Their writers cover big club openings and events, following some big feature dancers around the state to fill people in on the action. It’s not every day strip club patrons can get a good look at the hottest dancers in their area without dropping twenties all over the place. Still seen as one of the premier publications for strip-club patrons, Xcitement plans to celebrate all year long. They will host monthly parties at some of the biggest strip clubs in Florida. All readers are invited to attend the parties which will feature XXX video stars as well as big name feature dancers. Prizes will be given out and winners’ photos will appear in upcoming issues of Xcitement magazine.
