RRFF Round 2, More AVN Noms & Stuff

Tuesday: New DVDs come out today. The new Superman flick was really good, but I put that on my Christmas list so I held off a bit. They’ve got a really cool box set of all the old Christopher Reeve movies plus the new one. Really nice set for anyone who digs Superman. I did pick up my copy of Clerks II. If you missed that one in the theaters, pick it up. It’s hilarious and should not be missed. Both of them are available at Deep Discount DVD.

Eye Candy: Gang Bang action from DVDBox.com

RRFF Round 2: The voting emails have been sent out for the second round of voting. The fans have spoken and our original fields of 100 have been cut to a top 30. Next week it’s 10 and then the final four will square off. Among the biggest shocks from round one was the fact that last year’s winner Taryn Thomas didn’t make it into round two. I’m shocked by that. I’m also a little disappointed that Cindy Crawford and Austyn More didn’t make it to the final 30. Round two features some great match-ups. Gianna, Teagan and Katja make bracket two really tough. Only the top two will advance so someone is going to be left out. Early voting has bracket 4 even tighter. Right now Sandra Romain, Kinzie Kenner, Naomi and Carmen Luvana are in a four-way tie. We’ll cover more of these races later in the week, but I did want to point out that we seem to have more female directors advancing into later rounds than ever before. That’s pretty good news. On the other hand, Jim Powers didn’t make it to round two. Come on people.

Eye Candy: Something pretty to look at from Black Reign.

AVN Nominations: Actors & Actresses Part 1: Moving our way down the list of AVN nominations, we get the first few actor/actress noms. Splitting these categories into Film and Video may not be necessary for much longer. I don’t think it would hurt the field much if they took the Film nominees and folded them into the Video category. Of course that takes away quite a few awards so maybe that’s a bad idea. There are some strong nominees this year and I find myself wondering if anyone male or female, has ever won Best Actor/Actress in both the Film and Video category in the same year.

Best Actor ” Film

Buck Adams, Uninhibited, Antigua Pictures
Julian, Janine’s Been Black Maled, Vivid Entertainment Group My Review)
Randy Spears, Manhunters, Wicked Pictures My Review)
Rocco Siffredi, Emperor, Vivid Entertainment Group My Review)
Tommy Gunn, To Die For, Vivid Entertainment Group

I’m still waiting to see Tommy and Buck do their stuff, but of the three I have already seen, Rocco and Randy would seem to be the frontrunners. Both of them were outstanding. This one should be a very close race.

Eric Masterson, 3 Wishes, Wicked Pictures My Review)

Wow, lots of names on this list. Not a lot of surprises really. Mike Horner, Randy Spears, Rocco, Steven St. Croix, these guys are staples. I still have a few to watch, but Smothers was really good. Rocco was quite good and I’m currently in the middle of Sex Pix so watch out for Evan Stone. Tomorrow…the women.
