2014 AVN Awards Pre-Nomination Site Opens

AVN Media Network is now accepting pre-nominations for the 2014 AVN Awards. Producers, manufacturers and retailers should immediately request access to the restricted pre-nom website in order to submit their movies, products, outlets and other entities for awards consideration.

The 31st AVN Awards Show is scheduled for Saturday, January 18, 2014 at The Joint inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. In order to be eligible for a 2014 AVN Award nomination, a movie or product must be released by Oct. 7, in accordance with the following guidelines: made available for VOD download and/or physically stocked with either five wholesale distributors or 100 retail outlets; movie titles only released via VOD as of Oct. 7 must be in stock in physical format with five wholesale distributors or 100 retail outlets no later than Oct. 15. The eligibility period includes any movie or product released between Oct. 1, 2012 and Oct. 7, 2013.

To submit pre-noms, candidates must register for a user account at the AdultCentro-powered pre-nom site, which they may do by going to: voting.avn.com/registration/submitter. If approved for access, they will receive a notification email and may log in to begin entering their pre-noms. The site will remain open until midnight Oct. 7.

AVN strongly suggests companies and individuals begin submitting their pre-noms now and continue to do so through Oct. 7, as there will be no extension of the deadline. Once approved for access to the pre-nom site, users may visit it as many times as necessary until the deadline.

“Many will notice that we pushed back the traditional street date deadline for eligibility this year,” AVN senior editor Peter Warren said. “We decided to do this in order to accommodate producers whose release schedules were thrown off by the recently imposed industry-wide production halts. We feel this will be a benefit to many who have been set back by the current events impacting the industry.”

In light of those events, AVN has also decided to add two new categories for the 2014 AVN Awards: Best Safe Sex Scene and Best Condom Manufacturer.

“As a show of support for those promoting safe sex practices, we thought it would be not only fitting but important to add these categories,” Warren explained. “While we continue to stand opposed to governmental interference with the product this industry manufactures, we also feel that those whose products encourage safe sex in interesting and innovative ways deserve to be commended.”

These two categories, meanwhile, are not the only new ones to be added for 2014in the Video Body of Work arena, AVN has also added a pair of new performer accolades: All-Girl Performer of the Year and BBW Performer of the Year.

On the web side, AVN added a category for Best Web Director, which recognizes the body of work of a director who shoots the majority of their content for release on the web. Also, Best Photography Website has been renamed Best Glamour Website to include sites that also feature glamorous video content.

AVN asks producers and manufacturers to be judicious in their pre-noms, submitting only those titles and items they strongly believe have a chance at being nominated rather than submitting all product released during the eligibility period.

Production companies must supply AVN with all pertinent information in their pre-nom entries, including the full stage names of all the performers in the sex scenes and the names of all the behind-the-camera professionals in the technical categories such as editing, cinematography, music and others.

By Oct. 8, AVN asks that producers send two (2) DVD copies of each movie or series it would like considered, as well as sample materials used in marketing campaigns if seeking consideration in those categories. Novelty companies should also provide two (2) samples of each product they would like considered. All items should be mailed or hand-delivered to:
