AVN Awards Launch Pre-nom Site for 30th Annual Award Ceremony
Awards will be given out January 19, 2013 at ‘Adult’s Biggest Night’ in Las Vegas
CHATSWORTH, Calif. — 
AVN Media Network is now accepting pre-nominations for the 30th annual AVN Awards. Producers, manufacturers and retailers are invited to request access to the restricted pre-nom website in order to submit their movies, products, outlets and other entities for awards consideration.
“This is going to be a tremendously exciting Awards Season,” says AVN Senior Editor Peter Warren. “Hitting our 30th anniversary is a monumental milestone for the AVN Awards, and the quality of movies emerging from Porn Valley as we speak reflects just how far this industry has come in that time.â€
Warren continues, “As AVN has grown up, erotic moviemaking has grown up with it, and we’re very much looking forward to honoring the amazing work so many truly talented people in our community are currently doing.”
The 30th AVN Awards Show is scheduled for Saturday, January 19, 2013 at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
To be eligible for a 2013 AVN Award nomination, a movie or product must be released by Sept. 30, 2012, in accordance with the following guidelines: made available for VOD download and/or physically stocked with either 10 wholesale distributors or 100 retail outlets; movie titles only released via VOD as of Sept. 30 must be in stock in physical format with 10 wholesale distributors or 100 retail outlets no later than Oct. 15. The eligibility period includes any movie or product released between Oct. 1, 2011 and Sept. 30, 2012.
To access the pre-nom site, candidates must register for a user account here: https://secure.avn.com/account/register/. When approved for access, the applicant will receive a notification email and may log in and enter their pre-nom suggestions. The site will remain open until 11:59 pm PST Sunday, Oct. 7.
Once approved for access to the pre-nom site, users may visit it as many times as necessary until the deadline. AVN strongly suggests companies and individuals begin submitting their pre-noms as a process, starting as soon as possible and continuing through Oct. 7. There will be no extensions of the deadline.
“We are very excited to have moved to a complete new platform for the AVN Awards which is technologically driven by AdultCentro, a global b2b content marketplace that allows content owners to monetize their digital assets in markets and regions they couldn’t reach before,” AVN CEO Theo Sapoutzis states.
Adds Peter Warren, “We’ve put a lot of work into designing a new pre-nom site this year with the help of AdultCentro, and I think the result is a site people will find far more intuitive and easy to use than ever before. Perhaps best of all, the new site allows users to easily review their submissions, so everybody on both ends of the process should have a lot more peace of mind that nothing has gone unaccounted for.”
AVN requests producers and manufacturers be judicious in their pre-noms, submitting ONLY those titles and items they strongly believe have a chance at being nominated, rather than submitting all product released during the eligibility period.
“Submitting everything you’ve put out is counterproductive,” Warren says. “We work long days to trim the pre-noms down to the nominations, and you do not want to be ‘Oh, them again’ when your company name comes up for the umpteenth time.”
Production companies must supply AVN with all pertinent information in their pre-nom entries, including the full stage names of all the performers in the sex scenes and the names of all the behind-the-camera professionals in the technical categories such as editing, cinematography, music and others.
AVN asks that producers send two (2) DVD copies of each production or series for consideration by close of business Monday October 8. This deadline also applies to sample materials used in marketing campaigns and samples of novelty products to be considered. Items should be sent to:

Retailers are welcome to pre-nom any wholesale distributor they feel is worthy of being nominated. Similarly, manufacturers and distributors are free to pre-nom retailers in the various categories for consideration.

The AVN Awards will take place on January 19, 2013, at The Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas at the conclusion of the annual AVN Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE). AEE runs January 16 – 19, also in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. In 2013, AEE will include traditional exhibits, meeting rooms, exhibit suites, networking events, parties, product demos and educational components.
