Fan Faves: Semi Finals

Some Close Races, Some Blow Outs

With just a day or two left in the 2008 RogReviews Fan Fave Semi-Finals, some of the big names have already locked up their births in the Final Four. Others are fighting hard to make, setting up an interesting final few days of voting. (Reminder: If you have registered to vote and confirmed your registration, but did not receive a direct voting email, shoot me a note and we’ll get you taken care of.)

Best Newbie: Stoya is pulling away with bracket one, closing in on 30% of the vote and nearly doubling Adrenalynn’s second place numbers. Kristina Rose, Kacey Jordan and Missy Stone are still possibly in the hunt, but it would take a huge shift for any of them to unseat Stoya and Adrenalynn. Both of these women are smoking hot, but their win ends the run of both Asa Akira and Andi Heart who I think are about as hot as new girls get. Bracket is similarly stacked with Tori Black scoring nearly 30% and Gabriella Fox holding a comfortable lead over Kayden Kross, Phoenix Marie and Priya Rey for second place. So it looks like Tori, Stoya, Adrenalynn and Gabriella Fox in the finals. Two DP contract stars, one former DP contract star and quite possibly the prettiest new girl of 2008. Not a bad group.

Best Director: All 20 directors who made it to round 2 have received at least a handful of votes. Some of the races are a little lopsided, but at least no one got shut out this year. Bracket 1 is tight with the top four directors separated by only 5% and no one getting 20% so far. Belladonna leads and should be able to hold on. Chris Streams is currently in second with Manuel Ferrara and Stormy Daniels not far behind. Joanna Angel would need a miracle to break into that group, but three of the top five are women which is interesting. Look for Bella and Chris to make it, though I wouldn’t be shocked to see a last minute run for Stormy. Bracket two just isn’t nearly as close. Perennial winner Jules Jordan has more than twice as many votes as the second place director, Robby D. Robby then has twice as many as anyone trying to crack the final four. A big group including John Stagliano, Ivan, Courtney Cummz and Jonni Darkko are well off the pace. So Jules, Robby and Bella will square off again this year. Mike John’s slot in the final four will probably be Chris Streams’ this year.

Best Female: In her bid to win a third straight title, Jenna Haze is running away from the competition. Round three will be the first time she has come up short of 50%, but not by much. She is currently around 46% with better than triple the number of votes of second place Jesse Jane. No one else is even close, with Belladonna and Eva Angelina falling short of Jesse’s totals. It looks like return trips to the finals for both Jesse and Jenna. Bracket two was an early blowout with Sasha Grey and Teagan jumping out by a large margin. Sasha has maintained her big numbers and will finish between 20 and 25%. Teagan suddenly finds herself having to hold off Bree Olson who has pulled to within 1% late in the voting. No one else is remotely close so Sasha and either Teagan or Bree will face off in the finals. Last year’s Best Female runner-up Rebeca Linares is way back as are some really hot women like Brianna Love, Dana DeArmond and Hilllary Scott. Can last year’s best newbie Bree make it? Can 2006 best newbie Sasha take down Jenna?

Best Male: Bracket one features a tight three way race between Evan Stone, Jules Jordan and last year’s winner Manuel Ferrara. All three were in the finals last year along with Tommy Gunn who is getting crushed in the semis this year. Manuel and Evan hold a slight lead over Jules, but two of these three men will make the finals. Bracket two features a good race for second. James Deen is well ahead for top honors and holds a big enough lead to make it. Lexington Steele and Erik Everhard are running tight for second and one of them will have a chance to add another trophy to their collection.

Favorite Company: Last year’s winner Jules Jordan Video has a commanding lead over Elegant Angel and dark horse contender Naughty America. With a chance to defend, JJV could end up in the same four-way race as last year. Or NA could crash the party. Bracket two is a runaway from Evil Angel and Digital Playground. Last year, JJV, EA and DP were separated by 2% in the tightest three-way race we have ever seen. Brazzers is well behind in bracket two, but combined with Naughty America’s success this year it is clear that the web-based companies are coming on strong.

Best Movie: No shock here, Pirates 2 is leading the way with a quarter of the vote. What might shock some is the fact that two other features, Cheerleaders and Not Betwitched XXX are battling it out for second place. Last year’s finals featured two gonzo movies, an interactive title and a feature. This time around it may be pirates vs. cheerleaders. In bracket 2, Jules Jordan’s Lex the Impaler 3 seems a safe bet to make it to the final four. A group of three movies including Control 9, E For Eva and Bit Wet Asses 13 are fighting it out. There is an outside shot that The Wicked could make a charge and give us three features, but it looks to be features vs. gonzo this year.

Most Wanted Celebrity: And in the most fun category of the year we have some very close races. Megan Fox has a good lead, but Jessica Biel and Kate Beckensale are tied for second. Past winner Britney Spears is a distant fourth, but I think we all know that we really want to see Brit make that leap to porn. Scarlett Johansen and Kiera Knightly should advance in bracket two though I’m always hoping for a late run by Jennifer Love Hewitt. No matter who wins we all know that they won’t pick up their trophy, adding another one the growing collection on my shelf.

Thanks to everyone who has voted and we should have the results of the Final Four contest by this weekend. Good luck to everyone and thanks for voting.
