Rog Podcasts: 2014 AVN Awards Voting: Part One

For the third year in a row, I am going to do a series of podcasts dedicated to the 2014 AVN Awards, the nominees and the voting process. The clips will be here for you to enjoy. Please feel free to comment below or drop me an email with any questions or topics or thoughts send to rog@rogreviews.com or @RogerTPipe on Twitter.

As a voter for the past several AVN Awards, I have been lucky enough to take part in this huge event. The podcasts will cover the process as well as break down several of the categories. They will highlight some of my favorites and discuss some interesting choices and the “can’t miss” titles/performers from the past year.

I hope you enjoy these. As always, your feedback is very welcome. Let me know what you think of the podcasts, the categories, the voting, tell me I am wrong or just tell me how fucking great this whole thing is.

  1. Don Houston says:

I agree that there are too many haters, the kind that whine incessantly that it is all rigged, it is all tied to advertising, the same people always win, and that their flavor of the week wasn’t picked (either for a nom or a win).
I also agree that some of the directors and performers would do well to make compilation discs or even written bios that provide enough detail to help elevate their profile with voters, perhaps something your own PR efforts could incorporate in the future.
All Girl: a couple stood out in terms of depth and a few stood out in terms of breadth of performances this year; few doing both.
BBW: Yeah, the technical qualities are often lacking and few make efforts to elevate their profile to those who might appreciate them.
Best Actor: Hit or miss, same as best actress though I agree with your sentiments on best actress (my own ranking listing Jessica Drake higher than Allie Haze in the listed productions; but both up there near the top).

In some of the more general categories the nominating committee did such a good job that it is tough to rank order them, I keep going back to change specific ranks all the time (and will likely continue to do so).
