X-PLAY MAKES IMPRESSIVE DEBUT WITH ‘PORNSTAR POPSTAR’

HOLLYWOOD, CA ” Upstart production company X-Play has been in the planning stages for a number of months now, but has held back on releasing its first title until a movie that reflected the character of the company was produced. From early reviews, it looks like a hit title is on the way.
‘Pornstar Popstar’ hits store shelves on Tuesday, November 2nd and is distributed by rising distribution power Phoenix Releasing.
‘Pornstar Popstar’ is a wonderfully shot movie with an easy story line about a young model played by Simone who moonlights as a porn star to pay her bills. Before she fully realizes her situation, Simone gets discovered by a record company executive who introduces her to a wild lifestyle of sex parties and her own #1 hit songs.
X-Play is owned by media services company All Media Play and was designed to provide the company with a creative production outlet.
“This was our original reason for getting into the adult business”, stated Jeff Mullen who worked as director of marketing for New Sensations/Digital Sin before creating All Media Play and X-Play.
However, after looking at the huge distribution warehouse filled with thousands of titles, Mullen decided that a bit more planning, logic and sense were needed before diving into the production business.
“There was such a glut of titles that it became an easy decision that production at that time was not going to be our immediate priority”, he continued.
‘Pornstar Popstar’ marks the first release by the well balanced company where Mullen’s own music industry past plays a big part in which types of projects X-Play produces.
“I do have a background in the music industry where I worked for years with many of the top groups in R&B and pop music, but I never intentionally struck out to combine music and porn. However, when I helped Digital Sin land the 50 Cent/G-Unit project, I knew that this was an area where I could possibly edge out the competition”, Mullen stated. “Pornstar Popstar is a great way to have a bit of fun with the music and porn industries”.
‘Pornstar Popstar’ is about the music business where sometimes girls really do get places when they bang their way to the top. X-Play has combined elements of mainstream entertainment with graphic, but beautifully shot hardcore sex and packaged into a broadcast ready production.
