This is one of the biggest features of the year so it’s nice that I finally got a copy to check out. For those of you don’t remember the first Dark Angels, it was a huge hit for Nic Andrews. Jewel De’Nyle played the lead role in that movie and it was a success with fans and critics alike. I wasn’t crazy about the movie because it was so focused on the story and film making that it forget about the sex. This isn’t a problem that is unique to Andrews’ work. Most features treat sex scenes this way and that is one of the most frustrating things about adult movies today. Finding a well shot feature with a good script and great action is pretty tough. Finding one with all of that and really hot sex is nearly impossible. If that is the case with this movie then it will be a waste of a pretty sexy cast. August and Monica Mayhem have been doing great sex scenes for a long time. Sunny Lane is a very hot new girl who has a lot of buzz around her. Karina Kay and Destiny DeVille are also very hot women. Andrews has that cast to give us something very hot, so we will have to see how much attention he pays to the sex scenes.

The movie opens with a sex scene so that’s a good start. August and Barrett Blade get together in a dark, room in what looks to be a run down or abandoned building. She is a very sexy girl so the softer angles give us plenty of eye candy, but limited heat. The heavy shadows do the same during an otherwise sexy spoon romp. This scene has some heat, but it’s typical of feature sex and ends up feeling rushed, secondary and even a little pointless. Barrett hurries to leave his load on her stomach so that he can take a big bite out of her neck.

Compare the short sex scene with the two long action/dialog scenes that follow and get the impression that this is going to be a repeat of the first Dark Angels. We get to watch a nifty little SWAT team entrance and gun fight as Barret makes his escape and then get to know Sunny Lane a bit. She’s a sweet and innocent girl trying to make her way in LA as a waitress. Sunny also has a cheating boyfriend at home and he gives us an excuse for sex scene number two. Destiny DeVille is the woman providing Tyler with a mouth for his cock. She is a great cock sucker, but the loud music drowns out what she does best. Destiny is such a great talker that not being able to hear her over the heavy beat isn’t a great idea. It shows us once again what is most important this movie. She gets on top and takes a hard ride in reverse cowgirl. The shadows are actually nicely done, but as before they steal away much of the hat. This scene is a lot hotter than the first and it ends with a nice big shot on Destiny’s face. It may not be great stroker sex, but it isn’t too bad either.

While Sunny is having problems at home, Barrett and his band of merry vamps are also in some trouble. They need some pure blood to replenish their stock and set out to find it. Two guesses where their search will lead. Back at the diner, Sunny locks the door just in time to keep out one of the vamps and at the same time things are getting steamy for Karina Kay and Tommy Gunn in the back. With the typical music blaring they exchange oral in the shadowy kitchen. Karina is much hotter than she is allowed to be during the blowjob, but nothing can take away from how good she looks bent over taking it from behind. After a really short fuck, he shoots on her pussy just before Sunny catches them. (Not that she cares)

The vamps close in on Sunny, wiped out everyone in their path until she gets home. Just when all seems lost, Dillon Day sweeps in with his cross bow spouting “Terminator 2” lines, shooting up the bad guys and trying hard not to look too much like James Woods did in John Carpenter’s last movie. There is a little action and then a long dialog scene where Dillon spells everything out for Sunny. Though this is a logical place to throw in a sex scene, we jump instead to the warehouse where Evan Stone and Monica Mayhem make a little undead love. He dives and makes a meal out of her pussy and she does the same to his cock. Having seen her do a lot of great blowjobs, this one just looks like Monica is going through the motions. The sex here is pretty and Evan seems to be pounding away pretty hard, but it is another average feature sex scene with a shot onto her collar bone. With inspired scenes like these, one wonders why Andrews even bothers with porn at all.

If you were looking to jerk off to this movie you might want to pull your pants up for a while. After a brief shot of Sunny in the shower, we get dialog, gun play and story for the next fifteen minutes. (Longer than any of the sex scenes in the flick.) Sunny finally gets Dillon alone and goes down on him. At least this scene isn’t dark. Sunny looks great naked and gives as nice a blowjob as we’ve seen in this flick. They get up onto the hood of the car and have a pretty hot fuck. (Turn the music down and it’s actually a bit better.) It’s a solid scene with a decent facial and you had better pull those pants back up because that’s it for the sex.

What follows is some good film making by Andrews. There is an impressive car crash, the resolution of our story and some killer fight sequences. Like part one, this one ends with well over ten minutes of non-sexual action. I didn’t find myself quite as bored this time around though. Overall I would say that enjoyed this movie more than the original, though Jewel De’Nyle’s presence was definitely missed. She was able to handle the sex and dialog a bit better than anyone this time around. To rate this movie I really have to divide into two distinct flicks. There is the movie end of it and that’s really good. The gun scenes, the car crash and even the fights are very good. Nic Andrews is really good at that end of production. As a feature, this movie is outstanding. The script is pretty good and the acting is credible. (Though most of the female talent seem to be in a bit over their heads.) On the other hands, as a sexual project this movie doesn’t really work. I like the way the scenes are lit from an artistic standpoint, but anyone looking to get off will probably be screaming for someone to turn on a bloody light. All of the scenes are fine, but they are so short that they feel incidental. It is almost as if Andrews sees them as an annoying aspect of the movie that he has to race through in order to get back to his story. That just doesn’t make for good porn. As much as I love the feature side of this movie, the point of the project is still sexual heat and on that level this one fails too often.
