The Dinner Party movies are considered couples-porn classics by most everyone who follows such things. I have to admit that they are pretty impressive pieces of work from that standpoint. Part 3 should be more of the same and is party of Adam & Eve’s HD collection. From the James Bond open credits, to the stylish sex; this is a movie that loves to show off. Even on VHS, the picture quality is stunning and the mainstream sensibilities are quite strong. It really feels like a late night cable movie and from a production value standpoint that is truly excellent. The cast is huge, but don’t get too excited. Any time they put this many hotties together, we are bound to loose some great stuff to some big orgies. Carmen Luvana is in the lead and she is so good to look at that she can keep my eyes glued to the screen even when there is no sex going on. I am sure you will hear me say many times over the next few pages how I hate slow motion sex, love the technical quality of this movie and think that Carmen is hot enough to eat every meal of the day off of. If that is all we get for the next two hours then I may need to pop in a Mike John movie to finish off what all this eye candy may start.
The first ten minutes of the movie are spent on preparation for the meal. We get to see a few of the lovely women who will be attending the party and of course Carmen is keeping herself in the middle of the preparations. Mostly this is just a lot of showing off by the director. Yes, you have spent a lot on location, costumes and limos. The guests start arriving and the soft flute music continues. (Quick poll: Does anyone actually put music like this on in the background while making love?) Billy Glide is in charge of the kitchen and he gives us the occasional line of dialog in another otherwise near wordless first fifteen minutes. Carmen finally welcomes us to the table. She reminds her guests that they are encouraged to share a secret or a desire with the group. There it is folks, your entire plot. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Carmen begins by confessing that she has a thing for dangerous men. She tells her guests that she chose the chef because of his shadowy past. The fantasy scene in the kitchen pairs the rocked-up Billy with the head-to-toe perfect Carmen. She spreads her legs and gives him a lot to lick. Talking dirty in Spanish, Carmen isn’t going to let this bad boy off easily. She pushes him against the counter and gets her hand around his fat cock. There are too many shots of Billy’s face, but at least we aren’t looking at a slow motion blowjob. Carmen’s blonde head is bobbing at full speed on his prick and giving us a pretty fucking hot show. When the fucking starts we can really tell that this is a couples’ movie because so many of the camera angels hide the penetration. Whenever we cut to a hard-core shot it seems to last just long enough to miss if you blink. I know all about cable cuts, but I wish someone would take the time to shoot a movie like this with the hard-core shots there for the editor to plug in. Dee shares Carmen’s desire for dangerous men, but it is her somewhat shunned mate Evan Stone who reveals his secret fantasy. Lola is the girls, but you have to look really closely to make sure because the whole fucking thing is so dark. Don’t confuse dark with poorly lit. This is a really well lit scene if you’re trying to make it look like something that takes place on a dark staircase outside of a building. I just don’t happen to like watching sex that I can’t really see. After she sucks his cock, Lola mounts his face and then bends over to let him fuck her from behind. This is a moody scene with some good angle, tons of shadows and a bit of heat that gets buried (IMHO) by the fact that we really never see much. There is a bit of light on the action at the end when he shoots his load all over her willing face.
Steven St. Croix pictures himself as a Roman Senator. At the end of a long day he leans back for a nice bath from his blonde companion. This is another dark scene and is very slowly paced. To this point I haven’t been too upset by the sexual action in the movie, but this is a rather sleeping coupling with some decent reverse cowgirl action and good looking doggy. (The flute music has been replaced by the requisite sex sounds with thunder for good measure.) To this point the scenes have gone downhill after Carmen, but perhaps there is still time to stop the nose-dive.
Well they get better if you like music videos with hard-core sex. The next woman has a fantasy that involves her being a pop star. She lip-syncs to a song that isn’t too far from what might be popular today. Dale DeBone is right there with her at poolside to give her some cock. I wouldn’t exactly write this scene off, but unless you like quick cuts, water fountains and some funky edits, then you may want to hold off for something later. At least this is a daylight scene so we can really see how freaking good the picture quality is. These scenes are intentionally paced this way, but I have to admit I am getting a little anxious for some good old fashioned couch porn after an hour of this flick. The dinner is over and you might be thinking along with me that this would be a great time for the movie to end. Instead of a nice ending we move into the pretentious Circe De Solei porn ending that is like to send even the most gentle couples running for the door. This body paint and black light girl on girl scene is going to remind far too many of us late nights in a dark room with brightly glowing posters with Led Zeppelin or vaguely Tolkien-esque characters on them.
After that little trip down money-waste lane it is hard to get into the final scene. We have to sit through it anyway. This one is all lace, mist and romance in the middle of a big bed with veils around it. You know, this movie had me going until that acid trip detour. Getting through the romance novel scene lets us arrive at the inevitable orgy finish.
I would normally just give up on the movie, but we do get one more chance to see Dee in action. She and Carmen are the only reason to stick around at this point. Though the action moves back and forth as it must in a scene like this, the girls really look fantastic. Watching Dee in 69 with a big cock between her lips is really a beautiful thing. Carmen has to share time, but her body steals all of the attention as she rolls into piledriver and shakes her legs. If you gave up on the movie during the really dull portion you would miss on these two sexy women. Dee gets a facial, but the cutting is so rapid at the end that there is literally no strokeabe footage to be had during the final few minutes.
Though the movie goes through a serious dull spot, I would still rank Dinner Party 3 up there with some of the better features of 2004. Somehow they avoided slow motion sex and proved that you can make a cable-friendly movie at full speed. I am happy to report that I didn’t have to bitch about that aspect of the movie. The picture quality is absolutely fantastic on VHS and undoubtedly even better on DVD. There isn’t much of a story to worry about, but most of the dialog is pretty damn good. At least the cast took the time to learn their lines and there are no noticeably bad scenes. Sexually it is perhaps better than expected. Some of the angles are clearly shot for cable markets and that kind of kills the heat sometimes. Carmen’s opening scene is very hot even with some of the odd angles. It goes a bit downhill slightly from there until we hit rock bottom with the ridiculous glowing bodies fiasco. Even though the final few scenes leave me cold, there is enough couples-appeal in this finely crafted film to make me put it on the must-see list for those who love cable friendly smut.
