College Football, Watchmen & Mrs. Rog
I hope you are all enjoying a wonderful Labor Day. It’s hard to believe that another summer has already passed. An interesting summer around my house, filled with good and bad news, lots of heat, great side projects and my oldest son’s first real summer. He starts first grade tomorrow and I am still trying to get my head around that. It’s crazy how quickly the time has flown. So just about the time I have my routine down, everything changes with school this week and I get to start all over. Hopefully I’ll find time to get caught up on all of the interviews I have done and do some new ones. Here’s a little blog entry to wrap up the weekend and kick off the new year.
College Football: Well the new season has started and Oklahoma has already choked away their national title hopes. At least coach Stoops didn’t make us wait until January to be disappointed. On the other hand USC rolled it up on Saturday. Granted it was only San Jose St, but it’s not like Florida played anyone better. Some of these early games remind me of football at Cal St. Fullerton. (Yes I went there long enough ago for them to have had a football team.) We didn’t even have a place to play on campus so we played at a high school stadium down in Santa Ana. All of our road games were either conference opponents or big cash route games. We would go to LSU or Hawaii or one of the Florida schools for 300K and just get our asses kicked. It wasn’t a whole lot of fun for the players. I’m sure San Jose St. felt the same way on Saturday as USC went from down 0-3 at the end of the fist quarter to a 56-3 win. Next up is the huge game at Ohio St. My early prediction is the OSU forces USC’s freshman QB into some early mistakes and that they get revenge for last year by beating the Trojans 17-14.

Shawne Merriman: OK I’m a huge Charger fan who was very disappointed in Merriman when he was using steroids. That’s all behind him and he’s a great player, but now he’s been accused of battering Tila Tequila in his home. Read More Most of you have heard me abusive pricks like Jason Kidd and Kobe Bryant, but this one is a tough call for me. Not because I like Merriman and the Chargers. No, I’m of two minds on this case because of a serious conflict. On the one hand men who hit, choke and abuse women are fucking douchebag coward pricks who should be locked away for a long time. On the other hand, if ever a woman deserved to smacked around it would be Tila Tequila. (This of course is a JOKE. No woman deserves to beaten, not even Tila.)
Eye Candy: Is there appropriate eye candy to follow up a really bad domestic violence joke? (Where is Max when I really need him?) How about something cute instead? Lexi Belle happily sucking dick.
College Football 2: I know that he’s just a kid, but OSU quarterback Terrelle Pryor needs to spend more time playing and studying and less time trying to make statements of support for convicted felons. He used his eye black to honor Michael Vick and then made things even worse when trying to explain himself. Pryor said “Not everybody is a perfect person in the world. Everyone kills people, murders people, steals from you, steals from me, whatever.” Ummmm, really? How do we even reply to that? He’s right, not everyone is a perfect person and it’s a perfectly acceptable position to forgive Vick, welcome him back and treat him like a hero. It’s not a position I would take. He’s a fucking scumbag who only stopped what he was doing because he got caught. I won’t watch him play, won’t watch any games the Eagles play and hope he is out of the NFL as quickly as possible. But that’s just me. Pryor can defend Vick all the wants, but maybe someone should remind this kid he has a camera in his face at all times. No Terrelle, not “everyone” kills people, murders people or seals from you or me. In act, not everyone tortures animals and even fewer torture animals and still get to make millions of dollars. With any luck Mr. Pryor you too will land a job where you can be a complete ass bag, go to prison and end up earning millions. You might want to learn when to shut the hell up though.

Watchmen: Since Mrs. Rog was pretty much down for the count all weekend we had a chance to catch up on some movies. We got through all of Mad Men season two which I liked a whole lot better than season one. I’m actually looking forward to watching three. Best of all, we finally had time to watch Watchmen on Blu-Ray. I missed it in the theaters because I went to see Last House on the Left instead. (I know, stupid, stupid, stupid.) I was blown away. What a great movie. For some reason though our Blu-Ray had sound issues. The dialog was so low that we had to crank it up and then the freaking house felt like it was going to come down on the action scenes. I have no idea how to fix that, but I am already looking forward to watching it again. If you haven’t seen it, check it out. You will be amazed.

Mrs. Rog: Since many of you have asked, there is the latest on Mrs. Rog. She came out of her surgery just fine and has been resting all week. She’s in some pain as one would expect after surgery, but is ready to go back to work tomorrow. Wednesday we go in for what we hope will be good news on the final biopsy. If all goes well then this chapter will be behind us. Thank you for all of the kind words and for keeping her in your thoughts. We both appreciate the support. Please keep her in your minds and prayers for a few more days. I think you all know by now that I’d be nothing without her.
