DIGITAL PLAYGROUND RECEIVES A DOZEN NODS FROM EMPIRE
Digital Playground received a dozen nominations from leading E-tailer, Adult DVD Empire. RUSH, starring Digital Playground contract star Devon and directed by multi-award winning Nic Andrews, earned a record 8 nominations including the prestigious “Best Overall DVD” and “Best Feature DVD.” Joone’s Virtual Sex with Janine received a nod for “Best Overall DVD” and both Virtual Sex with Janine and Virtual Sex with Chloe Jones got kudos in the “Best Interactive DVD” category. Andrews’ directorial debut for Digital Playground, Devon: Stripped goes against RUSH in the “Best DVD Audio Quality,” and all the acknowledgements cement an additional nod for Digital Playground in the “Best DVD Studio” category. Company President, Samantha Lewis beams, “I’m glad there is a DVD exclusive award show because this is the niche we’ve been carving for the last decade. The Empire Awards honor excellence in DVD technologies; the 2002 nominations reflect achievement in 18 categories including “Best Selling DVD” and the “Viewer’s Choice Award,” which is chosen by consumers. Adult DVD Empire Editorial Director, Shannon T. Nutt says, “We believe that this year’s nominees are outstanding selections in their respective categories and really showcase some of the advancements adult DVD has made in the past year.” Site publicist, JT Smith says, “Titles are nominated and voted on by a panel of critics comprised by Empire staff and other aficionados of adult entertainment. The Viewers’ Choice Award follows a different process. This is selected by consumers, they vote on our website and we accept one vote from each unique email address and identity.”
In 2000, Empire named Digital Playground’s Virtual Sex with Tera Patrick “Best Interactive DVD.” and All Star received a trophy for “Best DVD Extras.” In 2001, Empire presented Island Fever with the awards for “Best Selling DVD,” “Best Video Quality” and “Best All Sex DVD. Joone’s Virtual Sex line also received “Best Interactive DVD” for the second year in a row with the Devon installment and Forbidden Tales earned trophies for “Viewer’s Choice,” “Best Menu Design” and “Best Feature.” In addition to a bevy of trophies for their specific titles, Digital Playground was named “Best DVD Studio.”
