Rog Podcasts Covering the 2013 AVN Awards Voting Part 2

Rog Podcasts Covering the 2013 AVN Awards Voting

As I did last year, I am going to do a series of podcasts focusing on the 2013 AVN Awards. I will post the clips here for you to enjoy.

As a voter for the past several AVN Awards, I have been lucky enough to take part in this huge event. The podcasts will cover the process as well as break down several of the categories. They will highlight some of my favorites and discuss some interesting choices and the “can’t miss” titles/performers from the past year.

I hope you enjoy these. As always, your feedback is very welcome. Let me know what you think of the podcasts, the categories, the voting, tell me I am wrong or just tell me how fucking great this whole thing is.

Here is the complete series of 2013 AVN Awards voting podcasts:

Part Two: Best Anal Series, etc.
Part One: Overview of the voting process, Best Actor, Best Actress etc.

I always enjoy the podcasts and gleam something that helps my own voting experience. For example, you point out the process where we have to rank order nominees; something few people outside voting seem to know about. Your comment on “criteria” hits home too, the lack of formal criteria in each category opening up a world of interpretations. Some of this ties in with personal tastes, for example some really hate parodies while others really like them which colors where voters will rank something on a given list.

In groups like best performer, some of us will see dozens of movies with one nominee and perhaps a few with another nominee, how we apply our observations sure to impact final scoring (such as, if you see some mediocre performances by one of the nominees, how much does that factor in?). Some performers are well versed in gonzo but stink in features or vignettes, others are good in a variety of genres, the same holding true for directors (some of my favorite gonzo directors never stray from their formulas or niche). In all though, I think the nomination/award processes for the major groups (AVN, XBiz) have improved each year. Okay, back to watching more stuff for voting…
