Adult DVD Empire Announces the Nominees for the 2005 Empire Awards

Warrendale, PA (February 3, 2006) – Adult DVD Empire, three-time winner of the AVN Award for Best Retail Website, is proud to announce the nominees for the 2005 Empire Awards. This is the sixth annual Adult DVD Empire Awards, and the event honors the best and brightest on Adult DVD from the year 2005.

The first Adult DVD Empire Awards were handed out on January 16th, 2001 live on The Tera Show, marking the beginning of the only awards show devoted entirely to Adult DVD. The Empire Awards focus on Adult talent and digital formats, with DVD bonus features, video and audio quality all taken into consideration. The Empire Awards are a recognized accreditation within the Adult industry as fans, studios and talent agree that the awards are a sought after and respected accolade.

The 2005 Adult DVD Empire Awards include categories ranging from Best Overall DVD to Best DVD Menu Designs and Best Overall Studio. The most nominated DVDs are Wicked’s Camp Cuddly Pines and Digital Playground’s Pirates, each with eight nods. Evil Angel has the most nominees as a studio with 15, Wicked ranks in at second place with 14, and Digital Playground was awarded with 13 nominations.

The Viewer’s Choice Award nominees range from compilations and series DVDs to some of 2005 biggest-budget features. Voters can log onto www.empireawards.com to vote for their choice starting today and up until midnight on Friday, March 3rd.

Editorial Director for Adult DVD Empire Shannon Nutt comments, “Some of this year’s nominees really raised the bar when it comes to what adult releases are offering customers. Many more titles are now being released in multi-disc sets with tons of bonus features; and many more are having their video anamorphically enhanced for viewers with widescreen TVs.” The high quality of some 2005 releases inspired a new category to be added to the Empire Awards. Nutt elaborates, ” The Best Compilation DVD category has been added this year and we are very excited about it. In the past, most comps were thrown together poorly by many studios, but some companies have really been taking care to create outstanding compilation releases. We feel these titles need to be honored with a category of their own this year.”
