THE PIPELINE: DECEMBER 2002

It’s amazing to me how quickly a year flies by. We are already to the final Pipeline of 2002. 11 down, only this one to go. It seems like only yesterday we were putting the wraps on 2001. This hasn’t been a banner year for big time porn feuds, major contact girl defections or new girls who create a firestorm with their rapid rise to the top. Still, we’ve had our share of ups and downs. It’s been quite a year and as always the porn world is heating up as the calendar winds down.

The end of the year has also kicked off the award season as AVN announced their nominations for this years AVN Awards. Sin City’s “Paradise Lost” cleaned up with 16 nominations including Best Film, Best Director (Film) and Best Actress (Film). John Stagliano’s epic film “The Fashionistas” is also up for Best Film and picked up noms for Stagliano as top director. The four and a half hour flick also earned nominations for its two lead actors, Rocco Siffredi and Taylor St. Claire. Anything can happen at these awards, but the smart money is on Fashionistas to pull in an amazing number of awards. As usual, male Performer of the Year should come down to a battle between Lexington Steele and Erik Everhard. (AVN has moved the foreign guys out of the main category keeping Rocco out of the mix.) Aurora Snow got her nomination for Female Performer of the Year one year too late, but should still be in the running. Belladonna, Jewel De’Nyle and Nakita Denise may be the favorites, but my vote still goes to Ms. Snow. Why knows who might come away with Best New Starlet. Their eligibility range is all over the place so it could come down to a pair of Jill Kelly contract girls, Jenna Haze and Shyla Stylz. One glaring omission from this year’s awards comes from the Hall of Fame category. After ten years a performer is supposed to eligible and this year’s list includes women like Jill Kelly and Felecia. While you can certainly make a case for both women, one has to wonder why Serenity’s name was left off. I would hope that her departure from Wicked Pictures didn’t have anything to do with it, but I can’t imagine how they could leave her off the list.

The Rog Reviews Awards nominees are also in the works. The 4th Annual Rog Reviews Fan Favorites polls are underway with voting taking place until the 29th of December and the winners announced on December 29th. Awards will be voted on fans who will choose a Best Female Performer, Best Male Performer, Best Newbie (Rookie), Best Director, Best Company and of course the Most Wanted Celebrity. Past winners include Serenity (2 time winner for Best Female), Jenna Jameson, Tom Byron (as both Best Male and Best Director), Lexington Steele, Jules Jordan, Layla Jade and Kimi Lixx.

Later in December, the second annual Rog Reviews Critic’s Choice Awards nominees will be announced. Winners for Best Female, Best Male, Best Newbie, Best Director will be joined by awards for Best Feature, Best All Sex Movie, Best DVD and of course, Worst Movie of the year. Last year, Aurora Snow walked away with two awards while Jules Jordan, Lexington Steel and others collected the hardware. Winners will be announced on January 1, 2003 and the trophies will be handed out during the Adult DVD Talk party in Las Vegas during the Adult Expo.

A few months ago I announced the Jessica Darlin and McKayla Matthews were returning to porn. Their movies have finally started to hit the shelves. Jules Jordan got McKayla to work in his movie “Weapons of Ass Destruction” from Evil Angel. Jessica stars in the latest volume of Sweatin’ It from Kick Ass Pictures and also takes a kinky turn for Joey Silvera in “Rogue Adventures 18” from Evil Angel. Jessica gets her sexy ass fucked by a trannie named Vanity. Welcome back to both sexy babes.

Director Michael Raven has been branching out lately, shooting for a number of different companies. For the past few years, the award winning director has been anchoring Sin City’s efforts, but has recently added Wicked and Metro to his resume. No word yet on whether he is looking for a place to settle or if he plans to stay free lance for a while. Regardless of what he has planned, expect the award nominations to keep pour in.

Sunset Thomas and Sunrise Adams may be the best known Aunt/Niece team in all of porn, but they are not going to working together any time soon. A few months back, Sunrise signed on to be one of the new Vivid Girls. This month, her aunt also inked a deal, but not with Vivid. Sunset signed a one year exclusive deal with VCA this month. The star who is most recently known for her successful trips to the Bunny Ranch has also starred in such classic adult features as “Latex”, “Cyber Anal” and “New Wave Hookers 5.” (As well as one of my personal faves, Sunset’s Anal & DP Gang Bang.) VCA Spokesperson Mischa Allen says “We are thrilled that Sunset has decided to work with VCA again. She is a true powerhouse in this industry and is hitting a real high point in her career. We are really looking forward to working with her for the next year.”

At this time I usually produce a Christmas wish list for all of my friends in the industry. Rather than single out a few people this year I want to extend best wishes to everyone. To all of the people in the industry who have helped me over the years with screeners, access to performers, press releases etc. To the performers who have been so generous with their time, supportive of the site and especially for those who have posed in the Rog gear. To all of the family and friends who have supported me through the years. To all of the people who have worked on my site, fixing things, improving it, working for hours putting it into a database, thank you so much. Most of all, thank you to all of the readers who have supported my work and my site, been forgiving of my shortcomings and who have given me such great input over the years. It is my greatest holiday wish that each and every one of you will be blessed during this upcoming year.
