This is one of the most nominated movies in recent history and even though I’m a little late with the review I can tell you that I’ve already seen it and was quite impressed. It’s not the sort of movie I usually rave about, but I love a good feature as much as anyone. This big budget western was shot in high-definition so those people who are always clamoring for more quality in there porn will want to take note. (I am reviewing the VHS because that is what was sent. I imagine it looks even better on DVD.) Shot like a mainstream movie, the music and cinematography is very impressive and sets the stage for the sex perfectly. How good are the sex scenes? That’s always the sticking point when a feature is this good.

Carmen Luvana returns home after the death of her father. She isn’t sure what to do with a huge ranch. Her first thought is to sell the place and that doesn’t go over well with Steven St. Croix who has turned the ranch into a very successful operation. He excuses himself and finds comfort in the arms of Brooke Balentine, a gun toting girl who seems dedicated to making sure Steven gets what he wants in every way. After a very quick blowjob, he bends her over and fucks her from behind. The sex is shot like a soft-core cut, but there is decent energy. I don’t like scenes like this and I’m hope they don’t all look this way. Steven works her ass and leaves his load on her recently stuffed backdoor.

The sex in this scene is a little better because of the daylight, but the overlapping shots still obscure a lot of the tight shots. Carmen is out riding while her companion, Kaylani Lei is getting to know Cheyne Collins. As she rides out to visit her parents’ graves, Carmen gets her first look at Evan and he does catch her eye just a bit. There is some concern about her plans for the ranch, but already the lines are being drawn. Brooke is out watching the heard with Joey Ray and they cozy up to each other in front of the campfire. I think they use the same tree to shoot much of this scene as well. You know for a tomboy, Brooke sure does like to fuck. The moonlit scene has some dim action, but brighter lights won’t change the way the sex is shot. There are a few close ups of anal action as she pushes her butt down hard against his prick. Meanwhile back at the ranch, (Collective groan) Carmen and Kaylani sit by the fire and look at pictures of her parents. Eventually they kiss and slowly undress each other. Since the other scenes were pretty, you would expect this one to be stunning. Carmen and Kaylani are two of the best looking women in the business and the eye candy factor in this scene is nearly off the charts. Kaylani slowly fingers Carmen’s twat, licks her does and then finishes the scene by grinding her pussy against her friend’s. As pretty-girl porn scenes go, this one is pretty good.

Already feeling like an outsider, this leaves Carmen totally distraught. The disruption doesn’t slow down the action any. Julian sits around the fire with Jesse V and makes sure that she feels welcome. I have always had a thing for this pretty girl with the perky boobs and perfect body. Don’t expect her A-game because that isn’t the kind of movie this is. There is still heat any time Carmen sucks a cock, but if you blink you might miss it. Instead we spend a lot of time with Evan pumping away on her pussy in the middle of the field. She looks great riding dick and is just as pretty as the background as she works a load from his dong.

The overall production values and solid script make this one of the best features of the year. Sexually, it is what most people would expect from and Adam & Eve high end movie. Any time Mrs. Rog looks at a movie and says “it’s pretty porn” you know you’re in super couple-friendly territory. The sex is more than couples-friendly. It actually seems to be shot and edited with the soft-core version in mind. There is some great looking eye candy and a few decent sexual moments, but raincoaters are going to be totally lost if they pop this movie in. Anyone looking for a good feature for couples with a Western theme, a good script and a very main-stream feel, will find this to be perfect. Carmen Luvana looks great and adds a little heat, but I think she is somewhat underused here. Ditto Kaylani, who is so freaking pretty it hurts. Her scene is quite a disappointment. since I seen her do much hotter work in other features. Jesse looks great as always and manages to generate some heat with her scene. Almost everyone in the movie is more impressive in their dialog scenes than their sex scenes. I love the look of this movie and the quality is excellent. It’s not what I’m looking for sexually, but it’s still one of the top five features of 2003.
